About

Neo Baepi (they/them) (b.1991, Potchefstroom) is a South African photographer currently living and working in Johannesburg, South Africa. Portraiture is the focus of their photography, allowing them to turn any space into the safest and most intimate.

Various commercial commissions include Netflix, Superbalist, Careers Magazine and Penguin Random House. Print publications include The Lake Magazine, Prufrock Magazine and The Mail & Guardian.

Having been exposed to various kinds of work, they can turn the corporate space, the music festival, the red carpet - anywhere, really - into a space that makes room for joy.

The idea behind the images by Neo is for us to be mindful of one another as a (r)evolutionary instinct. Like most things, people exist to end up photographed (archived, preserved, dignified) - the difference here is that JOY is the filter. Joy is a human right.
